Harvest Right Oxygen Absorbers
Harvest Right Oxygen Absorbers
50-Pack
You've invested in freeze-drying to preserve your food, but how do you guarantee its freshness for years to come? The final, crucial step is removing residual oxygen, the primary enemy of long-term storage. Harvest Right Oxygen Absorbers are the simple, effective solution to protect your food from spoilage and lock in its flavor, color, and nutritional value for up to 25 years.
These food-safe packets work by creating an oxygen-free environment inside your sealed Mylar bags. By eliminating oxygen, you prevent the growth of microorganisms and the effects of oxidation. Simply add one absorber to each bag before sealing to ensure your investment in home food preservation is protected for the long haul.

How do oxygen absorbers work? â They contain iron powder that reacts with oxygen in the air, a process similar to rusting. This reaction effectively removes over 99% of the oxygen from a sealed container like a Mylar bag, preventing oxidation and spoilage.
How many absorbers should I use per bag? â For a standard gallon-size Mylar bag (approx. 10" x 14"), one 700CC absorber is sufficient. Always ensure your bag is properly sealed for the absorber to work effectively.
What is the shelf life of an unopened package? â Unopened packages can be stored for up to a year in a cool, dark, dry place. Once the main package is opened, you should use the absorbers quickly or immediately reseal the unused ones in a small, airtight mason jar to protect them from air exposure.
Are these necessary for all freeze-dried foods? â Yes, if you plan on storing your food for more than a few months. They are the key to achieving long-term shelf stability of 20-25 years and are an essential part of the Harvest Right food preservation system.
Can I use these with any type of bag? â They are most effective when used with bags that have a high oxygen barrier, such as Mylar bags. They are not effective in regular plastic bags, which allow oxygen to pass through. We recommend using them with official Harvest Right accessories for guaranteed results.
My oxygen absorbers feel hard. Are they still good? â If they are hard and brittle before you've even opened the vacuum-sealed pouch, they may have been exposed to air and are no longer effective. Fresh, active absorbers should feel soft and powdery inside their packet.
