Natural Factors Alpha-Lipoic Acid contains a naturally occurring antioxidant that helps promote healthy glucose metabolism and maintain healthy glucose levels.

ALA is a sulphur-containing compound that serves as a cofactor for enzyme reactions in the mitochondria – the energy-producing powerhouse of our cells. As a tiny molecule, ALA is efficiently absorbed and easily crosses cell membranes. It works in conjunction with vitamins E and C, as well as glutathione, to provide antioxidant protection for the maintenance of good health. Because ALA is both fat- and water-soluble, it is known as a “universal antioxidant” that can quench free radicals occurring within and outside of our cells.

Free radical production is elevated in people with irregular blood glucose metabolism. Although the body can synthesize small amounts, most endogenously produced ALA is used for metabolic functions, with little remaining for antioxidant activities. Supplementing with ALA is a convenient way to increase levels of this versatile antioxidant.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is non-GMO and gluten-free. Each capsule contains 200 mg of ALA, with a recommended daily dose of three capsules.
